(Miniature miners' candlesticks were novelties in their own time. Made mostly by talented blacksmiths, various metals such as steel, copper, silver and gold were used. Among collectors, miniature refers to any candlestick with a thimble diameter less than 3/4 in. (full size candle) but in practice, any small stick less than 6 in. long may be called miniature. Their use ranged from decorative pieces to awards to celebratory items in the mining community. Few have survived which makes them highly sought after by collectors.)
